THIS IS AWESOME. Mortal Kombat is my top most favorite video game of all time. Although I’ve stepped away from gaming, if Mortal Kombat were to make a comeback, so would I. *I digress.* This seven-minute trailer features Michael Jai White as Jax (Capt. Jackson Briggs) (OOOO, i can’t wait to see when they add his metallic arms!!!), Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, Lateef Crowder as Baraka (Dr. Alan Zain), Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion (Hanz0 Sasori Hasashi), Johnny Cage was martial artist Matt Mullins.

It’s one of those passion projects that lived in my head. The technology is so accessible now. There’s was no reason why I shouldn’t do it, so I did it. I’m very, very happy that people are responding well to it. …My heart has always been deeply immersed in fanboy culture. As a kid, all I wanted to do was be a Ninja Turtle who morphed to a Power Ranger. As long as I was in the suit, I was going to be happy, because I just wanted to be in the suit. I think, of course, for the people that know me, this is not really a shock. Because they know that this is my love. And I do understand that it’s crazy to see such a shift in genre. But this is what I want to do, and this is what I’ve always wanted to do, and am very passionate about. And I knew that because I’ve always been in the performance world, if I ever wanted to make a genre picture, I had to do it myself first. So that was another reason why I felt like I should do this. And I went for it. … this is my take on what I would want to do with Mortal Kombat. I would love it if Warner Bros. wanted to do it this way. … the short so far is really designed like a prologue to the movie. Now, in a movie version, I am going to have that mysticism there, but it has to be done in a very tasteful way. I wouldn’t like it too campy or too cheesy. I know this is a weird analogy, but it’s the best one I can think of right now. It’s kind of like when in Harry Potter, there’s two universes that coexist with each other. There’s the real world, and then you get on the train and then you go to Hogwart’s, and that’s where all the magic is. It was actually kind of similar in the first Mortal Kombat, too. They had to get on the ship and go to the island, and that’s where all the crazy stuff happened.

Um…..I don’t know how to feel about this one. It reminds me of Gnarls Barkley – Who’s Gonna Save My Soul Now, but Kanye has taken his depression and showing that he’s killing it. Good symbolism….yet still a little weird. Kanye teamed up with Spike Jonze for this one.

This may be poor timing, but this month Kanye West is releasing his tour book of his INCREDIBLE tour, Glow In The Dark. The 288-paged book includes photos of conceptual sketches by West, costume designs, on stage, behind the stage, and stage models ALL by Nabil Elderkin. It also comes with a CD of a few live instrumentals and an interview by Spike Jonze.

Shyne to be Released…TODAY?

I don’t know if you guys have been keeping up with it (hell, I know I wasn’t….shout out to Kelia) but Shyne is supposed to be getting released from jail on October 6th. Yes my friend…TODAY. It hasn’t been confirmed, but from previous reports today is his release date. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing more details soon on why it hasn’t been made public. I wanted to do a little compilation of his work before he was sent to prison.

UPDATE: Global Grind has just learned That Shyne will be deported by Friday and US Immigration & Customs have given his family 24 hours to see Shyne before he is sent back to Belize. The family is heading to see Shyne now was we speak 5:25pm EST Developing

ANY Dane Cook Albums

Well…any Dane Cook album except his LAST stand-up…it kinda sucked. Dane Cook is one funny bastard. Whether you’re listening to “Harmful If Swallowed”, “Retailiation” or “Rough Around the Edges”, you’re sure to have a few bursts of gut-wrenching laughter listening to this guy.

Kevin Hart – I’m A Grown Lil’ Man

I don’t think it is as funny as WATCHING this stand-up, it is STILL funny to say the least. His situational comedy about his height, arguments and fights with his wife, and his “short-man” complex, is definitely worth a listen in between those TPS Reports you may be doing. This CD is actually from 2004, but the stand-up he’s done recently (which isn’t available in audio format) is funnier.

Lisa Lampanelli – “Take It Like A Man” or “Dirty Girl“

Some people (namely pompous conservative pricks) may not be able to get next to her racy comedy. Most of her set is taking jabs at the common sterotypes of the races and even at the gay people. But, if you’re not hung on race or sexuality then you definitely can find some humor in this one.
