Very historic moment guys. WE….as African-Americans…have come a long way. We have a lot to be proud of right now. We are no longer JUST the best athletes….no longer JUST entertainers. We have risen into the highest office of our Nation. In a country where we were SLAVES…we have risen to be PRESIDENT.

WE…as Americans…have the rights of passage to change. A change that is LONG overdue. Lets bask in this glory folks….OUR PRESIDENT IS BLACK!!!

So its 2008, eight years since the over exaggerated scare of Y2K. It seems just like yesterday that all of us were wondering if the world was going to end at the strike of 12:00 am , most of our parents bought water and sardines, and of course watch night service was packed with everyone, like being in the church the day the world ended would have been your get out of sin card. About 20 years ago all of us would have laughed at the thought the 80’s era would be a better time to live in the than the new Millennium, both financially and economically. Think about it, do you remember when you were in the third grade daydreaming about the year 2000 and how you were going to be living in a world that looked liked it was straight out of a Jetsons episode. That seemed so far away that the thought would give you chill bumps, I’m talking flying cars, and all………wow aren’t disappointed. Hell right now I wish I could go back to the third grade. With the plaguing issues of high costing health insurance, student loans payments, credit freezes, and a decreasing mortgage market, that apartment me and mom dukes used to share doesn’t seem so bad after all. I don’t know if you all read about this but, just the other day in California a father killed his entire family, his children, wife, mother, and himself because he felt he was not able to provide for them financially due to him being unemployed. I have personally been affected by this type of situation , at my former employer a Sales Manager, someone that was making more money than most people in the company, and someone I saw on a daily basis hung himself because he was asked to take a pay cut. When they found the note he left he stated that the financial pressures of his mortgage, bills and the thought of him not being able to send his daughter to college was too much to live with. It’s hard to believe but this is really what’s happening in the great nation of opportunity that we call America. It reminds me of the stories my grandmother would tell me about the great depression. The stories about how the top executives on Wall Street were literally jumping through windows when the stock plummeted. It all seems relevant now doesn’t it?
Right now everything is dried up in America , from the housing market to the dope game, realtors are having just as much trouble taking expensive flights to sell that undervalued million dollar home as the dope dealer is having problems finding the gas to drive from Atlanta to Texas to pickup his product of choice. The American dollar is losing its value in the global economy and jobs are being cut daily. Now this next comment may catch a couple of people off guard but this is just my opinion and I welcome all responses for your view on the subject. I feel that there maybe some good that comes from this unfortunate era in our American history, maybe in God’s own way its bring America closer together and making us a stronger nation. For the first time since the Civil Rights Era the middle class can relate to some of the pressures impoverish families have been facing for years, the President of the fortune 500 company will have to learn how to multi-task and wear many company hats as the small business owner has had to do in order to keep the doors or her business open year after year, and the family man in middle America that has a steady job just maybe able to feel the sympathy for the 22 year old father you is now labeled a felon because he was doing what he felt he needed to provide for his family. America has begun to open its ears and eyes to just how terrible the last 8 years under the Bush Administration has been, yes we have had distractions in past years some are natural occurrences and other I believe were exaggerated ( i.e., Hurricane Katrina , 9/11, the death of Saddam Hussein , and the most recent Sub- Prime Mortgage market ). The Bush Administration has done a great job of turning the American public away from the real issues that were truly killing America from the inside out. Which has been the mismanagement of funds and the incorrect forecasting of a war that we losing both physically and financially. For example, the city of New Orleans recently had another hurricane threaten it borders and we were dealing with the same fears of the levees in the city not being able to withstand flood waters, Isn’t it ironic that we don’t have enough National support financially to fix levees in New Orleans but we had enough to finances to send American soldiers to Indonesia when the Tsunami hit. I’m not saying America shouldn’t have helped because as we all know we play the big brother role for planet earth but I do feel that number one we should have taken care of home first and secondly that President Bush demanding to send troops there was nothing but a politicians ploy to redeem himself for dropping the ball in his own nations crisis. His term has run its course it has been exposed, now America is ready for a change, we are ready to actually listen to what politicians are promising, we are ready to hear how their blueprint for next 4 years will be implemented, and we are finally all ready to vote for someone who has the best policies to get us out of the crisis.
There are many reasons for the situation that our nation is in. Some would like to solely blame it on the Sub –Prime Mortgage Dilemma, which I will admit has a lot to do with our crisis but it clearly is not the main or only reason. We must not forget that this country was in a financial deficit before the sub prime lending began, this country was in deficit when we decided to look for weapons of mast destruction instead of making peace treaties and forming allegiances with the countries that are the main sources oil for the world. America is still strong and I think we have great opportunity to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure as well as our reputation on a global level. I’m am proud to say that I am a Barack O’bama supporter I believe in his policies but I’m not going to tell you who to vote for all I ask is that at the end of the day we have a President that is going to get America back to the great Nation it once was.

Presidential Debate is going down tomorrow night in a town hall format, Belmont University, Nashville, TN. Starting at 9pm eastern, 6pm pacific time and last for 90 minutes. It will be aired on every major broadcast network such as CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX. They will also be aired on cable outlets such as Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and many others.
